YB Races App Reviews

The App has several weaknesses: 1. The wind symbol is so small, I cannot interprete it. Even with magnifying glasses it is very difficult 2. Klick on the yachts for further information doesnt work 3. No way to store your favourites. Each time you access the App you have to do your selection again. I am really a fan for following the ARC but on the ipad it is not really fun and I seriously regret having bought the race.

We use Yellowbrick to do the tracking for the Lake Ontario 300 race. I can fire up my laptop and check positions for free on their site. If I want to use this "free app" to do the exact same thing on a much smaller screen I have to "buy the race" for $2.99. I deleted the app and turned on my laptop instead.

The app clearly hasnt figured out how to work for Apple users- only shows a 4 hour delay on race tracking. Pretty hopeless.

Compared to using the Yellowbrick tracking provided online for free by major race organizations, this Yellowbrick app is barely usable. The difference between their online tracking system and this app is striking. Online you can zoom easily, see a map in the background, group racers into a "favorites" group so just the boats you are interested in can be tracked and several other features. All of this is missing from the iOS app. The zoom function does not zoom in close enough to select individual boats racing in close proximity. Even trying a stylus to select individual boats doesnt seem to help. Yes you do see boats racing along a course and yes you can engage a leaderboard. But the ability to do anything else (as in Yellowbricks online web system) is totally lacking. This app is free (big deal!). Individual race tracking must be purchased per race. I purchased the Newport-Bermuda Race because my son is aboard one of the boats. But I wont be purchasing any more races until this Yellowbrick app gets a thorough upgrade.

This is a waste of money until they got it fixed. Second time it crashed my phone or hangs within 12 hours...

The free web version is much better than this app which never showed accurate speed of the boats. Dont waste your money purchasing this. Its crap.

Great way to build a fan base, charge them to watch your races.

It cant handle all the data and freezes as soon as you try to play with it.

The tracking is inaccurate. Dont waste your money. Is this Apples fault or Yellowbricks?

I got this app only because of limited computer access during the race Im following, and I could hardly be more dissatisfied. First, this app crashes often. But worse than that, it hangs up my iPad completely, forcing me to restart every time. To make matters worse, when it actually does run, it offers only the most basic of features. The online Flash-based tracking through Yellowbrick is really impressive and quite rich in features, while the app looks and performs like it was thrown together at the last second by the companys most incompetent programmer. Some of my particular frustrations are: - Boat photos dont show up - Wind speed/direction data constantly "unavailable" - Difficult to select one individual boat... Cant zoom in enough - No map on GUI (this thing is ugly!) making it harder to track progress against familiar coastal towns - Where are the rest of the features!? Yellowbrick has put as little effort into this app as possible, and it shows. Bottom line: DO NOT GET THIS APP!

A waste of money - crashes frequently, very hard to get info on a specific boat, extremely inaccurate - most frustrating app I have ever used. Even very difficult to submit a review!.

Crashed my iPad, leader board does not really show leaders, does not have the functionality I was expecting. Shouldve spent my money on coffee.

If I could find something else I would. Too bad racers had to rent the transmitter. I agree with and had the same problems as the other folks.

Does not work on I-pad. It want to to down-load Java Script (does not work on an i-pad) or Flash Drive 10 - then buy the race in i-tunes - does not work - never got into system to view race. Don,t waste your time or money on Yellow Brick for i-pad.... This would really rate as 0 stars because it does not work .... but o stars is not an option

3 dollars to watch the HKG to Hainan Race on an app that has nothing but one star reviews? Get serious mate. Uninstall. Bye bye.

Are you serious? Buy a race to watch it? Get real and step into reality. You are trying to get more people to follow the race and this is what you do? Does Rolex know you are doing this? What a scam. You should be embarrassed.
